This expressionist oil on canvas painting depicts a still life arrangement of maritime and interior objects. The composition features a wire birdcage resting on a white-draped chair, situated beside a lifebuoy inscribed with the word VIEW and a length of thick, coiled rope. The background consists of draped fabrics in warm earth tones. The work is executed with visible impasto brushwork and heavy, dark outlines. It is signed Fenwick in cursive in the lower right corner. The reverse of the wooden stretcher is additionally inscribed B. FENWICK in block lettering. The painting is housed in a period, tiered, dark-stained wooden frame. Dimensions: H approx. 23.5 in x W approx. 27.5 in (only inches shown on tape). Condition: The painting is in overall good condition with some surface dirt consistent with age. There is scattered staining visible on the verso of the canvas. The frame exhibits light surface wear and has adhesive residue on the top rail. There are no visible tears, punctures, or signs of restoration to the canvas.
