An oil on canvas landscape painting depicting a white horse and a standing figure, possibly a groom or farmhand, set within a rural landscape. The scene features dense woodland in the background and a pale, hazy sky. The work is executed with visible texture, notably impasto highlights on the body of the horse. It is housed in a period giltwood and composition frame with a dark outer border. The canvas is stretched onto a wooden frame with four corner keys. The lower right corner is signed Baron. The verso of the frame bears a handwritten inscription X 7 H. Dimensions (measured against a tape measure): Exterior frame approx. H 54.5 cm x W 64.5 cm (21.5 x 25.5 inches). Condition: The painting shows significant craquelure across the entire surface, particularly noticeable in the lighter areas of the sky. There is an accumulation of surface dirt and the varnish has discoloured with age. The frame exhibits wear to the gilded surface and some minor cracking and loss to the composition elements, particularly at the corners and edges.
