NO SHIPPING ~ LOCAL PICKUP ONLY > Vintage Colonial Early American Duxbury-style Windsor arm rocking chair measuring approximately 34" tall × 24" wide, with 29" long rockers. The saddle-shaped seat stands approximately 16" high, while the arms rise to approximately 25.5". The notably heavy, substantial frame appears constructed from solid hard rock maple with a warm reddish-brown cherry-tone finish. The fan-back design features a broad curved crest rail with upturned terminals, slender vertical spindles and crossing diagonal spindles forming a distinctive central pattern. Broad shaped arms rest upon turned supports, while the deeply contoured plank seat joins turned legs, a box stretcher base and long curved rockers. The form closely follows the traditional Duxbury Windsor rocker associated with Nichols & Stone, a respected Gardner, Massachusetts, furniture manufacturer especially known for solid-maple Windsor chairs, rocking chairs and Colonial Early American furniture. The Nichols family traced furniture-making roots to 1762, and the company became widely recognized for durable hard rock maple seating produced in traditional American forms. Stickley acquired the Nichols & Stone name in 2008 and continues offering furniture under the Nichols & Stone by Stickley line. CONDITION REPORT > CONDITION REPORT > The rocker is notably heavy, substantial and sturdy. Some scattered scratches, scuffing, finish wear, rubs and lighter contact marks from prior use. No overt structural breaks are visible. A simple refinish of the seat alone would be realistic.
