1946 COLEMAN WWII MILITARY Type G.I. CAMP STOVE

AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > An original post World War II era Coleman Model 530 single-burner gasoline camp stove measuring approximately 8.5" tall × 4.5" in diameter and weighing about 3 pounds, accompanied by the original two-piece nesting aluminum carrying case and attached metal fuel funnel. The stove features a nickel-plated cylindrical fuel tank, upright metal frame, folding pot supports, built-in pressure pump, control valve, cleaning mechanism and burner assembly. Coleman developed the Model 530 as a civilian adaptation of the Model 520 field stove produced for the United States military during World War II. Coleman marketed the postwar version as the G.I. POCKET STOVE, referring to the relatively compact, self-contained nesting form rather than a stove intended for an ordinary clothing pocket. The 8.5" × 4.5" proportions are comparable to a large thermos or compact field cooker. The front of the fuel tank is impressed NO. 530 ~ COLEMAN ~ MADE IN U.S.A. ~ A46. The A46 date code identifies manufacture during the first half of 1946. Operating directions and patent numbers are stamped along the upright frame members. American production of the Model 530 occurred during 1946 and 1947. The pressurized stove was intended for gasoline-type fuel and supplied heat through a single concentrated burner. Six hinged pot supports fold inward for storage and extend outward to support a cooking vessel. The built-in hand pump pressurizes the fuel tank, while the valve and cleaning mechanism regulate fuel delivery and help clear the burner orifice. The cylindrical aluminum case encloses the stove for transport and separates into two cooking vessels. Coleman originally supplied a multipurpose wrench that also served as a detachable handle for the vessels; that wrench is not included. The metal funnel remains attached to the stove for filling the compact fuel tank. CONDITION REPORT > The stove has not been fueled or tested and is offered as found. Included are the Model 530 stove, attached fuel funnel and two-piece nesting aluminum case. The multipurpose wrench and vessel handle are absent. The stove and case show scratches, scuffing, oxidation, darkened metal, fuel or cooking residue and scattered rust, particularly across the underside of the case. The controls, pump, seals and burner mechanism have not been evaluated for safe operation; servicing and inspection are recommended before use.
