AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Pair of vintage GHC Magnalite cast-aluminum covered saucepans comprising 1-quart and 2-quart sizes. Each has a fitted domed lid, molded pouring lip, black grooved heat-resistant handle with hanging slot and a coordinating black lid knob. The underside of the smaller saucepan is marked U.S.A. ~ 1 QUART ~ 1 LITER, while the larger saucepan is marked U.S.A. ~ 2 QUARTS ~ 2 LITERS. Both bases bear the GHC emblem and stylized MAGNALITE name, identifying production during the General Housewares Corporation period. Magnalite cookware originated with the Wagner Manufacturing Company of Sidney, Ohio, which introduced the cast-aluminum line during the 1930s and registered the MAGNALITE trademark in 1936. General Housewares Corporation acquired the Wagner cookware brands in 1969 and continued producing Magnalite for several decades. The GHC markings, black synthetic handles and dual American and metric capacity designations place this pair within that later production era, most likely the 1970s through 1990s. Magnalite cookware was valued for thick cast-aluminum construction that distributed heat across the bottom and surrounding walls more evenly than lightweight stamped cookware. The 1-quart and 2-quart sizes were intended for sauces, vegetables, soups, reheating and other everyday stovetop preparation. These examples belong to the traditional silver-tone Magnalite line rather than the later dark hard-anodized Magnalite Professional series introduced by GHC in 1979. CONDITION REPORT > Both saucepans retain the corresponding fitted lids, handles and knobs, all stable. The cookware exhibits prior use with a degree of surface scratches, scuffing, darkened finish, cooking residue and common discoloration.
