AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Delicate sterling silver identification bracelet measuring approximately 9.5" long when laid fully extended, with a slender central panel measuring 1-1/8" long × 1/8" wide. The exceptionally fine link chain terminates with a small spring-ring clasp and is separated at one point. The narrow identification panel has rounded ends, a recessed polished center with engraved initials and a closely beaded border characteristic of late Art Deco and early Mid-Century jewelry. The reverse is stamped WELLS ~ STERLING. The small proportions and refined construction indicate personal jewelry intended for a lady or young girl, likely worn as an identification, name or keepsake bracelet. Wells, Inc. operated in Attleboro, Massachusetts, from 1922 until 1978. Founded by Raymond L. Wells, the company produced sterling silver jewelry and became especially associated with personalized jewelry, bracelets and the “Top Hat” line of sterling charms. Wells acquired R. Blackinton & Co. in 1967 before jewelry production ended in 1978. The beaded frame, restrained engraved panel and extremely delicate chain suggest production during the 1930s through 1950s, with the design retaining Art Deco influence while anticipating the personalized identification jewelry popular during the Mid-Century period. Darkened patina remains throughout, emphasizing the intricate chain links and beaded border.
