AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Vintage Aynsley fine English bone china covered trinket box standing 1.75" tall to the domed cover and measuring approximately 4" in diameter across the shoulder. The rounded body has subtle molded swirling around the shoulder, while the fitted cover is finished with a gold gilt enamel border. The Pembroke pattern features a colorful bird perched among branching peonies, smaller blossoms, berries and green and blue foliage. Coordinating floral sprays continue around the body. The Asian-inspired decoration reproduces an 18th-century Aynsley design and combines vivid enamel colors with a restrained white ground and gilt trim. The underside bears the crowned backstamp EST. 1775 ~ AYNSLEY ~ ENGLAND ~ FINE ENGLISH BONE CHINA ~ PEMBROKE ~ REPRODUCTION OF AN EIGHTEENTH CENTURY AYNSLEY DESIGN. John Aynsley established the Staffordshire pottery concern in 1775, and the company became recognized for finely decorated English bone china. Pembroke was revived for modern production during the late 20th century and is generally associated with production beginning during the 1980s. The compact covered form was intended as a trinket, jewelry or vanity box for rings, pins and other small personal items, while also serving as an attractive dresser or cabinet display piece.
