NO SHIPPING ~ LOCAL PICKUP ONLY > Vintage Florentine hand-painted wood console, vanity or writing table measuring 29.5" tall × 36" wide × 23.5" from front to back. The shaped serpentine bow-front top rests above three fitted drawers and a scalloped apron, supported by four long, slender cabriole legs with outward knees, graceful inward curves and small padlike feet. The pale ivory ground is decorated by hand with floral bouquets in pink, yellow and blue, surrounded by green foliage, deep rose accents and powder-blue Rococo scrollwork. Coordinating painted decoration extends across the top, drawer fronts, side panels, apron and upper legs. The shaped edge is highlighted with softly distressed green and gold-tone detailing, contributing to the deliberately antiqued Florentine finish. Three drawers retain dark round metal knobs. The wider center drawer and left drawer are lined with rose-patterned paper, while the right drawer has a plain interior. The serpentine top, bowed drawer fronts, scalloped apron and elongated cabriole legs place the table within the Venetian and Louis XV Rococo Revival tradition. A paper label beneath the table reads ART. ~ PITTURATO A MANO ~ FLORENCE ~ MADE IN ITALY. Pitturato a mano translates as “painted by hand,” while Art. abbreviates articolo, referring to the article or model number. The label confirms Florentine manufacture and hand-applied decoration. Florentine workshops became widely known for painted and gilded accent furniture inspired by Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo interiors. During the postwar export period, especially the 1950s and 1960s, these workshops produced decorative consoles, vanity tables, commodes and occasional furniture for international markets. Because individual artisans worked from shared regional patterns, variations in floral arrangements, brushwork and antiquing are expected from one example to another. CONDITION REPORT > The table presents attractively with scattered surface marks, finish variation, rubbing and small losses to the painted, green and gold-toned decoration, all no more than contributing to the vintage appearance and hand painted designs.
