Published by Louisiana State University Press in 1985, the first-edition volume presents the history of Ochsner Medical Institutions in New Orleans and contains 256 pages with illustrations. ISBN 0807112283. John Wilds’ history traces the development of Ochsner from the founding vision of the physicians who established the institution into one of the South’s most prominent private medical centers. The book addresses the growth of the hospital, clinic, research programs and medical education associated with the Ochsner name, providing a detailed regional record of Louisiana medicine and health-care development.
