A pair of Canadian silver 50-cent coins, dated 1945 and 1951, struck in 0.800 fine silver. Both coins feature the left-facing effigy of King George VI on the obverse, designed by Thomas Humphrey Paget with the initials HP visible at the base of the neck. The 1945 coin carries the legend GEORGIVS VI D: G: REX ET IND: IMP:, which includes the title of Emperor of India. The 1951 coin features the revised GEORGIVS VI DEI GRATIA REX legend, following the removal of the imperial title. The reverses, designed by George Kruger Gray (initials K.G), display the Canadian Coat of Arms, featuring a crowned shield with lion and unicorn supporters above a cluster of three maple leaves. Both examples have reeded edges. Suggested reference (unverified): KM# 36 (1945), KM# 45 (1951). Condition: The 1945 coin exhibits moderate circulation wear consistent with a fine or very fine grade, showing dark grey toning in the recessed areas. The 1951 coin shows lighter wear, approximately extremely fine, with noticeable original lustre and golden-yellow peripheral toning. Both coins are free of significant edge damage or heavy contact marks.
