This lot comprises two Canadian silver 50-cent coins dated 1944 and 1952. Struck in .800 fine silver, both coins feature the uncrowned effigy of King George VI on the obverse. The 1944 coin displays the Latin legend GEORGIVS VI D:G:REX ET IND:IMP:, reflecting the title of Emperor of India. The 1952 coin features the revised legend GEORGIVS VI DEI GRATIA REX, following the change in royal titles after Indian independence. The reverses carry the 1921 version of the Coat of Arms of Canada design, flanked by a lion and a unicorn as supporters and surmounted by a crown, with the inscriptions 50 CENTS and CANADA alongside the respective dates. Both coins are finished with reeded edges. Catalogue references: KM# 36 (1944) and KM# 45 (1952). Condition: Both coins are in circulated condition, exhibiting moderate wear to the relief, particularly on the hair of the effigy and the high points of the heraldic shield. Scattered surface marks and small contact nicks are visible across the fields of both specimens. The 1952 coin shows prominent golden-brown toning on the obverse, while the 1944 coin exhibits lighter, more even toning.
