A pair of Canadian silver 50-cent coins, commonly referred to as half dollars, dated 1942 and 1951. Both pieces are struck in .800 fine silver. The obverse of each coin features the uncrowned effigy of King George VI by T.H. Paget, with the initials HP appearing below the truncation of the neck. The 1942 obverse bears the legend GEORGIVS VI D : G : REX ET IND : IMP :, while the 1951 obverse legend is GEORGIVS VI DEI GRATIA REX. The reverses depict the 1921-1957 version of the Canadian Coat of Arms, a design by Emanuel Hahn, with the denomination 50 CENTS above and CANADA with the date below. Both coins have reeded edges. Catalogue Reference: KM# 36 (1942 issue). Condition: The 1942 coin is in very fine condition, showing an even grey patina with darker toning concentrated in the recessed areas. The 1951 coin is in extremely fine condition, retaining much of its original lustre with light wear on the high points and light golden-to-grey peripheral toning. Both coins are free from significant edge damage or deep scratches.
