A pair of CA 50-cent coins struck in .800 silver by the Royal Canadian Mint. The lot consists of one coin dated 1940 and one coin dated 1963. The 1940 specimen features the George VI era heraldic design with the 1921-1957 coat of arms and the Tudor crown, inscribed 50 CENTS, CANADA, and 1940. The 1963 specimen features the Elizabeth II era revised 1957 coat of arms topped with the St. Edward’s Crown and includes the motto ribbon inscribed A MARI USQUE AD MARE, with further inscriptions 1963, 50 CENTS, and CANADA. Both coins are manufactured with reeded edges. Condition: The 1940 coin is in fine to very fine circulated condition, showing wear on the high relief areas and dark toning. The 1963 coin is in extremely fine to uncirculated condition, retaining original mint lustre with minor surface marks.
