A pair of Canada 50-cent coins struck in .800 fine silver, dated 1940 and 1950. The obverses feature the King George VI portrait by T.H. Paget, with his initials HP present at the base of the neck. The 1940 coin bears the imperial legend GEORGIVS VI D: G: REX ET IND: IMP:, and the 1950 coin bears the modified legend GEORGIVS VI DEI GRATIA REX. The reverses feature the 1921 Arms of Canada design by George Edward Kruger-Gray, marked with K and G flanking the crown. Both coins have reeded edges. The post-1947 legend change on the 1950 coin reflects the removal of the Emperor of India title following Indian independence. Condition: Circulated condition, with wear patterns suggesting a grade between fine and very fine. Both coins display moderate wear to high relief areas and light surface scratches. Natural toning is evident on both pieces. A concentrated dark spot of residue or oxidation is visible on the reverse of the 1950 coin near the unicorn.
