A pair of Canadian silver 50-cent coins comprising one 1940 specimen and one 1952 specimen. Both coins are struck in .800 fine silver and feature the obverse effigy of King George VI. The 1940 issue bears the legend GEORGIVS VI D:G: REX ET IND: IMP: (KM# 36), while the 1952 issue displays the modified GEORGIVS VI DEI GRATIA REX legend. The reverse designs depict the 1921 Arms of Canada as rendered by George Kruger-Gray, identified by the small K initial to the left of the shield. Both specimens feature reeded edges. Condition: Both coins show evidence of circulation. The 1940 specimen exhibits heavy dark toning in the recessed areas with significant wear to the high points of the effigy and coat of arms, graded as Fine to Very Fine. The 1952 specimen displays a more uniform grey patina with numerous contact marks and surface scratches consistent with moderate circulation, graded as Fine.
