A pair of Canadian silver 50-cent (half dollar) coins issued during the reign of King George VI. The 1940 specimen features the obverse effigy by Humphrey Paget with the legend GEORGIVS VI D : G : REX ET IND : IMP :. The 1951 specimen features the revised obverse legend GEORGIVS VI DEI GRATIA REX, following the removal of the Indian Imperial title. Both coins display a reverse design by George Kruger-Gray featuring the armorial bearings of Canada supported by a lion and unicorn beneath a crown. Struck in .800 fine silver with reeded edges. Condition: The 1940 coin is in fine circulated condition with heavy, irregular toning and significant green oxidation visible on the obverse portrait. The 1951 coin is in very fine condition, retaining original lustre with light peripheral toning and minor surface marks consistent with circulation.
