Cream-glazed stoneware commemorative beer stein issued as a Christmas presentation for the 3rd Squadron, Reiter-Regiment 17 during 1935. The front is decorated in hand-applied polychrome enamel with a mounted cavalry trooper carrying a lance with pennon, beneath the inscription "Reiter-Regiment 17 / 3. Schwadron" and above "Weihnachten 1935." The stein retains its original pewter hinged lid with a fluted thumb lift, while the interior of the lid features a traditional relief of a beer stein within an oak wreath. An impressed 0.5L capacity mark is present near the handle. Condition shows light handling wear, minor age toning to the glaze, scattered shelf wear, and natural oxidation to the pewter lid, with no visible cracks or repairs. This stein commemorates service in one of the German Army's cavalry regiments during the early Wehrmacht period, reflecting the continued ceremonial traditions of mounted units despite the increasing mechanization of the armed forces. Measuring 6.5" tall, 4" in diameter and 5.5" in depth, including handle. BP/RC
