Original pair of WWII German Winterhilfswerk (WHW) Trachten-Abzeichen charity donation badges featuring traditional regional folk costumes. One badge depicts a man in Alpine attire with knee breeches, green stockings, and a feathered hat, while the companion badge portrays a woman dressed in a traditional regional dirndl with a black bodice and pink skirt. Each badge features a multicolor machine-embroidered silk-thread figure mounted on a cloth backing within a molded plastic frame. The embossed regional names are present along the lower borders. Both retain their original safety pin attachments. Each badge measures approximately 1.75 inches H x 1.25 inches W. Condition is very good, exhibiting authentic age toning, light edge wear, minor surface scuffs, and small areas of paint loss consistent with age and handling. Produced as part of the Third Reich Winter Relief (Winterhilfswerk) fundraising campaign, these badges celebrated the traditional folk dress of regions throughout Germany and annexed Austria while supporting charitable relief efforts. A colorful and desirable matched pair with excellent historical significance and display appeal for collectors of WWII German memorabilia and WHW badges. SC
