Original pair of WWII German Winterhilfswerk (WHW) Trachten-Abzeichen charity donation badges representing the regions of Salzburg and Niederdonau (Lower Austria). Produced as part of the Third Reich Winter Relief fundraising campaign following the 1938 incorporation of Austria into Germany, these badges feature multicolor machine-embroidered silk-thread figures mounted on cloth backings within molded plastic frames. The mint-green framed Salzburg badge depicts a man dressed in traditional lederhosen and Alpine attire, while the off-white framed Niederdonau badge portrays a woman wearing a traditional dirndl with regional headdress. Both badges retain their original working steel safety pin assemblies. Condition is very good, exhibiting authentic age toning, light edge scuffing, minor paint loss, and light oxidation to the rear washers consistent with age. Each badge measures approximately 1.75 inches H x 1.25 inches W. A colorful and well-preserved matched pair of original WHW regional costume badges, representing the folk traditions of Austrian regions during the Third Reich era and offering excellent appeal for collectors of WWII German militaria and WHW memorabilia.
