Title: Woman in a Polka-Dot Dress Holding a Pink Necklace Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 28 x 20 inches (71.1 x 50.8 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with rich coloration and a smooth, softly blended paint surface, with more raised strokes in the white dot pattern and highlighted contours. No significant paint losses or tears are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities, light handling marks, and age-related wear may be present. Presented in a reddish-brown wooden frame with a glossy finish, showing minor surface wear. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private Colelction Visual Description: A stylized seated woman fills the vertical canvas, set against a warm background of brown, umber, and burnt orange scattered with stylized mint-green leaf forms. Her head tilts sharply toward the upper left on an elongated pink neck, and her face is split into two views: a tan profile marked with pink circles and chevron-like strokes, and a slate-blue mask-like face pressed against it, with a single wide white eye. Dark hair streaked with lime, red, and yellow sweeps behind her head in a broad curve. Her raised right hand, rendered in pale pink with touches of blue, delicately holds a strand of pink and white beads, the gesture forming the focal point of the upper right. The lower half of the composition is given over to her dress, a swelling mass of deep indigo and violet covered in an allover pattern of small white rings, its folds described by curving pink and magenta lines that wrap around the figure. A slender yellow-and-white leaf shape lies across her lap. The fusion of profile and frontal views, the elongated anatomy, the decorative surface pattern, and the outlined, high-contrast color reflect the visual language of twentieth-century Cubist and post-Cubist portraiture. The upper left bears a painted inscription reading "Picasso." This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
