Title: Calla Lilies in a Blue Vase Beneath Two Suns Technique: Oil on paper Measures: 13.5 x 10 inches (34.3 x 25.4 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with vivid coloration and heavily built-up impasto, particularly in the white blossoms, yellow spadices, and swirling background. No significant paint losses, tears, or creases are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities, light handling marks, and age-related wear may be present. Presented in a bronze and gold-toned frame with a mottled, distressed dark finish and a gilt beaded inner molding, showing minor surface wear. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private Colelction Visual Description: A densely painted floral still life showing a full bouquet of white calla lilies arranged in a rounded blue vase set on a tabletop. The blossoms fan outward across the upper two-thirds of the composition, each trumpet-shaped flower modeled in thick cream and white paint, edged in olive gold, and accented with a bright yellow spadix and touches of pale sky blue in the throat. Broad, curling leaves in forest green, sap green, and dark navy outlines spill over the rim of the vase and droop toward the table on both sides. The vase itself is rendered in horizontal bands of cobalt, ultramarine, white, and turquoise, giving it a reflective, glazed appearance. The background is animated by short, directional strokes of blue, white, and yellow-green that swirl around two glowing yellow orbs at the upper center and upper right, encircled by concentric rings of white and pale yellow. Below, the tabletop is laid in diagonal strokes of ochre, golden yellow, and blue. The rhythmic, ridged brushwork, the dark contour lines, and the strong complementary contrast of yellow against blue reflect the visual language of Post-Impressionism, giving the still life an energetic, almost vibrating surface. The right side of the composition, beside the vase, bears a painted inscription reading "Vincent." This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
