Title: White Footbridge over a Water Lily Pond Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 29 x 21 inches (73.7 x 53.3 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with saturated coloration and heavily textured, raised brushwork across the foliage, water, and lily pads. No significant paint losses or tears are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities, light handling marks, and age-related wear may be present. Presented in an ornate carved gilt frame with deeply sculpted foliate and scroll motifs, showing variations in the gilded finish and darker toning within the recesses consistent with age and handling. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private Colelction Visual Description: A garden landscape in vertical format, centered on an arched white footbridge spanning a still pond. The bridge, outlined with touches of cobalt and violet shadow, crosses the upper third of the canvas and frames a band of lavender, pink, and golden blossoms along the far bank. Behind it rises a dense screen of foliage in olive, forest green, sage, and silvery white, opening at the top to patches of bright cerulean sky and drifting cloud. The middle ground is given over to the water, where short, broken strokes of ultramarine, violet, and white suggest reflected light and floating blooms. The foreground shifts in handling: broad lily pads in chartreuse, yellow-green, and emerald are set against deep indigo water, punctuated by pink and white water lilies whose petals are built up in thick, rounded strokes. The vertical stems of the bridge's reflection descend into this darker zone, linking the upper and lower halves of the composition. Throughout, the paint is applied with visible, directional impasto, and the contrast between the cool blues and violets of the water and the warm greens and yellows of the vegetation creates a lively, shimmering surface. The subject and loose, light-filled handling recall the visual language of Impressionist garden painting. The lower right bears a painted inscription reading "Claude Monet." This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
