Presented in a black wooden frame with a brushed silver-toned inner lip, showing minor surface wear. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private Colelction Visual Description: A dreamlike still life in vertical format, dominated by a soft, melting pocket watch draped over the edge of a dark brown ledge in the lower half of the composition. The watch's golden casing, modeled in ochre, amber, and pale yellow highlights, sags and folds as if made of a pliant material, while its silvery white face bears black numerals and two slender hands, the dial distorting as it flows toward the lower edge. The ledge is drawn in sharp, angular perspective, its planes shifting from warm umber to deep chocolate brown. Beyond it, a flat turquoise expanse is covered in rows of muted gray-green dots and small white dashes, reading at once as patterned ground and as a calm sea. In the upper left corner, a suspended block with a red and crimson face is crossed by meandering cobalt and sky-blue lines, its brown underside echoing the geometry of the ledge below. The contrast between the hard-edged architecture, the decorative repeating pattern, and the impossible softness of the watch produces a quiet, unsettling tension. The motif of the limp timepiece and the juxtaposition of precise forms with irrational transformation reflect the visual language of Surrealism, here combined with a flattened, graphic treatment of space. The lower right bears a painted inscription reading "Dalí." This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
