LA PRIMULA SRL of ITALY CERAMIC ABSTRACT ART PLATE

Updated September 24, 2026

AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Vintage Italian pottery plate by Ceramica La Primula S.R.L., measuring 8" in diameter and boldly hand decorated in an abstract geometric pattern. The face is centered by a large yellow and green spiral, surrounded by a lavender blue circular band with raised dark accents. The broad border carries freely painted green zigzag forms with scattered burgundy, blue and yellow details against the creamy white ground. The loose brushwork and vivid contrasting palette give the plate a strong Italian modernist and folk art appearance. The underside is embossed LA PRIMULA S.R.L. ~ MADE IN ITALY, along with handwritten production or decorator notation. La Primula was a ceramics producer located in Civita Castellana, Viterbo, Italy, an important Italian ceramics center. Archival records document the company as active beginning in 1972, producing tableware, and later becoming part of the Gruppo Quadrifoglio before ceasing operations in 2004. Comparable La Primula pieces are frequently found as colorful hand-painted Italian tableware from the later 20th century. CONDITION REPORT > As discovered, not cleaned or altered. Exhibits the hand painted irregularities and glaze variation associated with individually decorated pottery.
