Chinese Blanc-de-Chine Style Censer with Lion-Mask Handles. Dimensions: 2.75 inches H × 5.5 inches W × 5 inches D. Circa early to mid 20th century. Chinese ceramic censer or incense burner of compressed circular form, raised on a low foot and finished in a creamy white glaze with fine brown speckling throughout. The vessel is flanked by a pair of applied Buddhist lion / foo dog mask handles, providing the principal sculptural decoration to the otherwise restrained form. The interior displays visible concentric throwing lines and areas of darkened surface residue consistent with age, use, or accumulated soiling. The underside bears an impressed rectangular Chinese seal-style maker's mark. Based on the glaze, construction, modeling, and mark, Condition: Overall good condition with age-appropriate surface wear, scattered discoloration and staining, particularly to the interior, along with glaze and firing irregularities. Fine speckling throughout appears characteristic of the glaze. No major chips, cracks, or repairs are readily apparent from the photographs. Please view all photos for condition. This auction house considers the photos as the condition report.
