Chinese Blanc-de-Chine Translucent Porcelain Libation Cup. Circa early 20th century. Dimensions: 1.75 inches H × 2.75 inches diameter. Chinese blanc-de-Chine porcelain libation cup finely potted in a translucent creamy-white porcelain. The vessel has a gently flared, irregular lobed rim above a small circular foot and is decorated around the exterior with subtle molded relief ornament, including flowering branches and naturalistic motifs that emerge softly from the otherwise undecorated white surface. The notably thin, translucent porcelain and monochrome ivory-white glaze are characteristic of pieces made in imitation of traditional Dehua blanc-de-Chine wares. The form is based upon early Chinese rhinoceros-horn libation cups, which were frequently interpreted in porcelain by Dehua potters. Condition: Overall good condition with light surface wear, scattered discoloration and soiling, particularly within and around the molded relief decoration and foot. Minor glaze and firing irregularities are present. No major chips, cracks, or repairs are readily apparent from the photographs. Please view all photos for condition.
