Group of Six Chinese Snuff Bottles, Glass, Porcelain & Hardstone-Style Examples. Circa early 20th century. All for one money! Dimensions: Largest approximately 3.5 inches H; remaining bottles approximately 2.5 to 3.25 inches H. An assorted collection of six Chinese snuff bottles in a variety of materials, forms, and decorative techniques. The group includes a faceted porcelain bottle decorated with a traditional mountainous landscape; a small cylindrical blue-and-white bottle with dragon decoration; two flattened glass bottles with colorful painted decoration depicting a dragon and flowers with butterflies; an amber-yellow molded bottle decorated in relief with a crane, a traditional symbol of longevity; and a plain white flattened bottle. Several retain fitted stoppers in various colors and materials, including blue, green, red, brown, and dark stone-like examples, with metal collars present on several bottles. The painted glass examples appear to be inside-painted snuff bottles, a well-known Chinese decorative tradition in which designs are painted on the interior surface of the glass. Condition: Overall good condition with varying age-appropriate wear, surface scratches, discoloration, glaze and firing irregularities, and wear to decoration. Stoppers and collars show varying degrees of wear and tarnish. One blue-and-white bottle is shown without a stopper. Spoon presence or completeness of individual stoppers has not been verified.
