Assorted Chinese-Style Spade Money, Cash Coins & Jeweled Spoon. Collection of Chinese and Chinese-style metal objects comprising five archaic-form spade money pieces, three round cash coins with traditional square central openings, and a gilt-metal decorative spoon. The spade-form pieces imitate the distinctive bu or spade currency associated with ancient China and bear cast characters or archaistic inscriptions. The round coins bear Chinese characters surrounding square central holes in the traditional cash-coin format. Also included is an approximately 5-inch gilt-metal spoon, engraved with scrolling and auspicious-style decoration and set along the handle with multicolored cabochon stones or glass. Chinese characters are engraved on the reverse of the handle. The spade pieces are approximately 1½–2¼ inches high, while the cash coins are approximately 1¼–1½ inches diameter, based on the photographed measurements. Condition: Varied condition with substantial patination, oxidation, surface wear and encrustation to the coin and spade-form pieces. The spoon exhibits surface wear, discoloration and wear around the inset stones consistent with age and handling. Please view all photos for condition. This auction house considers the photos as the condition report.
