Peter Max (American, b. Germany, 1937–2025), Abstract Flowers, 2006, a vibrant mixed media painting combining acrylic and color lithography on paper. The composition presents an exuberant bouquet overflowing from a boldly rendered vessel, set against an intense cobalt-blue ground. Large sweeping passages of red, yellow, orange, pink, green, white, and blue form highly stylized blossoms and foliage, with Max’s energetic application of acrylic creating pronounced texture and visible brushwork across the printed foundation. The saturated palette, simplified forms, and spontaneous gestural marks give the work the joyful, psychedelic character closely associated with Maxs art. Art Dimensions: 36 x 24 inches. According to the accompanying Park West Gallery Certificate of Authenticity, this work is a unique variation, rather than a numbered edition, and is identified as mixed media painting with acrylic and color lithography on paper. Accompanied by the original Park West Gallery Certificate of Authenticity and a July 21, 2011 Park West appraisal stating a then-current retail replacement value, including the frame, of $12,300.
