Nano Lopez (b. 1955), Roxi, Limited Edition Giclée on Canvas, 167/420. Canvas depicting the artist's preparatory-style studies for his whimsical fox sculpture. The composition centers on a reclining fox rendered in graphite-style linework, surrounded by smaller working sketches, including studies of an elephant and other figures. Signed Nano lower right and titled Roxi lower left. Numbered 167/420 lower left. The verso retains a Park West inventory/shipping label identifying the artist as Nano Lopez, the work as Roxi, and the medium as not embellished canvas giclee, with registration number S67978.0087. Lopez was born in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1955 and is particularly known for his imaginative, elaborately surfaced animal sculptures known as Nanimals. His work combines close observation of animals with a playful, almost storybook sensibility. Lopez's official description of the Nanimal series explains that he incorporates organic textures and man-made forms into his bronzes, creating animals that blend nature, imagination and folklore. Of particular relevance to this work, Lopez's official website identifies the corresponding fox sculpture as Roxy, edition of 420, measuring 3 x 8 x 6.5 inches, and records the sculpture as sold out. The 167/420 numbering of this giclée therefore appears to correspond to the edition size of the associated sculpture. Medium: Giclée on canvas, not embellished. Edition: 167/420. Signature: Signed Nano lower right. Title: Roxi. Framed Dimensions: 20 x 23 inches. Provenance/Documentation: Park West Gallery inventory label, Registration No. S67978.0087 Frame: Substantial antiqued gilt and dark-finished molded frame. Condition: Appears to be in very good overall condition. Minor wear to the frame consistent with age and display. Please review all photographs, which constitute part of the condition report.
