Scott Jacobs (American, b. 1958), Phalaenopsis, Signed Limited Edition Giclée on Canvas, No. 300/450. Depicting a pair of richly colored Phalaenopsis orchids dramatically presented against a deep black ground. Hand-signed in gold lower right by the artist and numbered 300/450 lower left. Superb quality. You can hardly tell it is not the original. A particularly attractive example of Jacobs floral work, displaying the meticulous realism for which the artist is known. The intricate veining of the yellow, amber, and magenta orchid blossoms is rendered in crisp detail, while the stark black background creates a striking sense of depth and emphasizes the luminous color of the flowers. Jacobs is an American photorealist best known for highly detailed imagery ranging from motorcycles and automobiles to wine, spirits, and floral subjects. His editioned works have an established secondary market, with more than 200 auction records currently documented. Artwork Dimensions: 12 x 20 inches. Edition: 300/450. Framed Dimensions: 21 x 29 1/2 inches. Presented in a substantial top-quality gilt frame with ornate raised decoration and a light linen liner, providing an elegant presentation particularly well suited to the black ground and warm coloration of the orchids. Documentation: No separate Certificate of Authenticity or appraisal documentation was supplied with this lot. A Park West inventory label remains affixed to the verso and identifies Scott Jacobs and the title Phalaenopsis. The edition number 300/450 is also visible on the artwork. Condition: Very good to excellent overall condition. Artwork presents beautifully with vivid color and crisp detail. Quality frame presents well with minor wear consistent with age and display.
