Flying Mercury (Hermes) Bronze Sculpture on Ebonized Plinth. Offered is a finely modeled bronze sculpture depicting Mercury (Hermes), the swift-footed messenger god of Roman mythology. Rendered in a dynamic airborne pose, the youthful nude figure balances gracefully on one foot while holding the caduceus, the winged staff traditionally associated with Mercury. Winged elements adorn the head and ankles, emphasizing speed and motion, while the elongated limbs and upward-reaching gesture create a strong sense of elevation and classical idealism. The composition is inspired by celebrated late 19th and early 20th century interpretations of the flying Mercury theme, particularly those associated with Art Nouveau and Beaux-Arts sculptural traditions. The figure exhibits a rich dark patina and is mounted on a stepped ebonized wooden plinth. The sculpture displays strong decorative appeal and would complement both traditional and contemporary interiors. Age: Mid-to-late 20th century, after earlier classical and Art Nouveau models.
