Bronze Figure of a Jockey on Horse, 20th Century. 17H x 16W x 6D in. Condition: Very good with minor wear. A finely cast bronze equestrian study depicting a mounted jockey or exercise rider guiding a thoroughbred in measured stride. The rider, shown in streamlined racing attire with protective helmet and tall boots, sits in poised control while holding the reins with restrained precision. The horse is modeled with admirable anatomical sensitivity, its musculature smoothly articulated beneath a rich hand-finished bronze patina of warm chocolate and golden undertones. The sculptor has emphasized the graceful forward motion of the thoroughbred, capturing the elegance of training-ring movement rather than the heightened drama of the race itself. Particularly notable are the refined treatment of the mane, the naturalistic tension in the legs, and the balanced silhouette that lends the composition an understated sporting sophistication. Raised on an integral naturalistic terrace and mounted to a polished black marble plinth, the work presents beautifully as a desk, library, or sporting art accent, appealing equally to collectors of equestrian bronzes, racing memorabilia, and classic animal sculpture.
