A handsome and highly functional Stickley Mission book table, crafted in solid cherry and representing the enduring American Arts & Crafts tradition for which Stickley is renowned. The substantial square top displays particularly attractive figured cherry grain and rests on straight square legs joined by characteristic vertical slatted sides. Dimensions: 29 H × 27 W × 27 D inches. The open architectural design incorporates a spacious central shelf with a lower compartment enclosed by vertical slats, providing ample storage for books and magazines while retaining the strong geometric character associated with Mission furniture. The warm cherry finish has developed an appealing mellow tone that complements the simplicity of the form. The table retains excellent identifying marks, including the Stickley branded script mark, red Handcraftsman joiners-compass medallion for Manlius, New York, production number 91 516, model #713, and a clearly stamped production date of APR 20 2000. These markings make this an especially well-documented example. Condition: Very good, sturdy condition with scattered minor scratches, small finish marks and other light wear consistent with age and normal use. Provenance: From the estate of Moira McCracken, an international equine sales executive based in Georgia and lifelong equestrian who maintained a notable home collection of fine art and furnishings. At the time of her passing, she owned four horses and six dogs, reflecting her lifelong passion for animals. She was the widow of John McCracken, who established IBM in Edinburgh, Scotland.
