Artisan Live-Edge Walnut Burl Wood & Hand-Forged Iron Side Table. Dimensions: 24.5?H x 17.5?W x 18?D. A striking artisan-crafted live-edge side table combining highly figured natural solid walnut wood with a sculptural hand-forged iron base. The thick rectangular top is assembled from contrasting sections of richly figured hardwood, displaying exceptional natural character with swirling grain, clustered burl formations, knots, color variations, and organic inclusions. Portions of the original live edge have been intentionally retained, giving the table a distinctive one-of-a-kind character. Particularly appealing is the dramatic burl figuring, ranging from warm honey and golden brown to deeper caramel tones. A small contrasting butterfly/bow-tie style inlay adds another handcrafted detail to the top. The table is supported by a substantial hand-forged iron tripod base with visible hammer marks and gently arched, splayed legs terminating in flattened feet. A broad forged cross-form mounting plate secures the base beneath the top. The combination of organic wood and forged iron gives the piece an appealing studio furniture / modern rustic aesthetic, equally at home in a contemporary interior, mountain residence, lodge, or Arts & Crafts-inspired setting. An unusual piece of functional furniture whose dramatic natural figuring and forged construction give it considerably more presence than a conventional occasional table. Provenance: From the estate of Moira McCracken, an international equine sales executive based in Georgia and lifelong equestrian with a passion for animals. At her passing, she owned four horses and six dogs. She was the widow of John McCracken, who established IBM in Edinburgh, Scotland. Condition: Very good, sturdy condition with minor surface wear. Natural knots, inclusions, irregularities, and live-edge characteristics are inherent to the wood and contribute to the table's individual character.
