Fairfield Cowhide & Leather Carved Armchair. Dimensions: 45?H x 28?W x 24.5?D. Seat: 19?H x 28?W x 20?D. Arm Height: 26.5?H. A striking Fairfield Furniture accent armchair combining traditional European-inspired carving with a sophisticated Western or lodge aesthetic. The substantial hardwood frame is richly carved with scrolling foliate and acanthus motifs along the arms, shaped apron, and cabriole legs, with a graceful shaped stretcher providing both visual balance and structural support. The chair is particularly distinguished by its handsome mixed upholstery. The tall, gently shaped back is covered in natural cowhide, retaining the hide's individual brown-and-cream markings and characteristic hair-on texture. The generously proportioned seat and padded armrests are upholstered in complementary warm brown leather, with antiqued nailhead trim following the shaped apron, back, and arm pads. The combination of carved traditional furniture forms with cowhide and leather creates an appealing juxtaposition—formal enough for an elegant library or study while equally appropriate for an upscale lodge, equestrian-inspired interior, or Western collection. The original Fairfield label remains present beneath the chair, together with the leather care information. Provenance: From the estate of Moira McCracken, an international equine sales executive based in Georgia and lifelong equestrian with a passion for animals. At her passing, she owned four horses and six dogs. She was the widow of John McCracken, who established IBM in Edinburgh, Scotland. Condition: Very good, sturdy condition with light surface wear consistent with gentle use. Cowhide displays natural coloration, markings, and variation inherent to the material. Minor wear to the leather and wood finish. Presents beautifully. Please be sure and view all photos. This auction house considers the photos as the condition report.
