This lot comprises a trio of volumes, headlined by a mid-19th-century architectural manual. The primary work is titled The Architect, or Practical House Carpenter; Illustrated by Sixty-Four Engravings, which exhibit the Orders of Architecture, and other elements of the art; designed for the use of Carpenters and Builders. By Asher Benjamin, Architect. Published in Boston by Benjamin B. Mussey & Co., 1848. The quarto volume is bound in brown boards, featuring the stamped initials J.M.S. to the front cover. Accompanying this is an illustrated children's book titled Pigmy Land from the Treasure Trove Series, featuring pictorial boards and advertisements for British household products including Wright’s Coal Tar Soap, Shredded Atora Suet, and Fennings’ Children’s Powders. The final item is a red hardcover Desk Diary 1975, bound with elaborate gilt-stamped decorative borders to the covers and the year 1975 to the spine. Condition: The architectural manual shows heavy foxing and staining to the interior, with significant ageing, staining, and wear to the binding boards. The children's book displays heavy wear, including adhesive tape repairs to the spine and surface loss to the front cover illustration. The 1975 diary shows some surface scuffing and residue to the binding.
