A collection of three original souvenir photograph packets and accompanying black and white snapshots, dating from approximately the 1920s to the 1950s. The assortment includes a Valentine’s Snapshots packet containing twelve real photographs of Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, and Holyrood Abbey, published by Valentine & Sons Ltd. and printed in Great Britain. A second packet, titled Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Stratford-upon-Avon, was issued by the Trustees & Guardians of Shakespeare’s Birthplace and produced by Raphael Tuck & Sons Ltd., London, featuring twelve official photographs (Series 3) of the historic site. The third packet is a Bermuda Series One set containing ten snap shot views of tropical landscapes, architecture, and floral subjects. One photograph from the Edinburgh set features a handwritten pencil inscription on the reverse identifying the King Edward VII Memorial Gates at Holyrood Palace. Another print is titled An Avalanche of Lilies. Several of the photographs are produced as gelatin silver prints. Dimensions measured against a ruler: Souvenir packets approx. W 10.5 cm x H 8.5 cm Individual snapshots approx. W 9 cm x H 6.5 cm. Condition: The collection is in good vintage condition. Visible signs of age include paper toning and minor foxing across the photographs and packets. Several photographs exhibit silvering in the darker areas of the prints. The card souvenir envelopes show light edge wear, creasing, and minor tearing to the corners and flaps. The window of the Bermuda packet shows wear around the edges.
