This lot consists of three 19th-century religious works in their original cloth bindings. The first volume, Canada Presbyterian Church Pulpit, First Series, was published in Toronto by James Campbell and Son in 1871 (MDCCCLXXI). It is bound in burgundy cloth with a gilt-stamped spine and features a blind-stamped central seal on the front board depicting a burning bush with the Latin motto NEC TAMEN CONSUMEBATUR. The second volume, titled Psalter and Hymnal on the front cover, contains The Psalms of David, in Metre: Translated and Diligently Compared with the Original Text, and Former Translations. It is bound in black pebble-grained cloth with gilt-stamped titles. The third volume is A Guide for Young Disciples of the Holy Saviour, in Their Way to Immortality; Forming a Sequel to Persuasives to Early Piety, written by Reverend J. G. Pike and published by the American Tract Society at 150 Nassau-Street, New York. This work is bound in dark brown cloth with elaborate blind-stamped floral scrolling on the boards and ornate gilt decoration on the spine; it includes a frontispiece engraving. Dimensions: H approx. 19.1 cm (Presbyterian Church Pulpit); H approx. 17.5 cm (Psalter and Hymnal); H approx. 15.6 cm (Pike's Guide). Condition: All volumes show age-appropriate wear. The cloth bindings exhibit fraying at the spine ends and corners, with rubbing to the boards and fading of the gilt lettering. Internal pages demonstrate significant foxing and toning throughout, most notably in the Pike volume. The hinges on all volumes appear secure despite some light starting to the endpapers.
