An Art Deco period handheld vanity mirror featuring a shield shaped head with clipped corners and a long, tapered handle. The reverse is decorated with a linear engine turned pinstripe pattern. Centered on the back is an engraved laurel leaf wreath tied with a ribbon bow, enclosing a blank oval cartouche. The handle throat is stamped with PAT. No247028, a trefoil maker mark (unconfirmed), and a series of four hallmark shields including an anchor, a lion passant, and a capital letter E (recheck). It is further stamped STERLING and registration number Ro 711628. The piece contains a beveled mirror glass. Weight: 305 grams (gross weight) Length: 30.1 cm (measured against a ruler). Condition: The sterling silver body exhibits overall tarnish and heavy oxidation on the handle. Minor surface scratches and small indentations are present. The beveled mirror glass shows substantial foxing and desilvering, primarily concentrated around the edges.
