A rectangular sterling silver jewelry or dressing table box featuring a hinged, domed lid. The lid is decorated with fine engine-turned parallel lines and a central vacant oval cartouche within an engraved laurel wreath and bow. The interior is lined with peach-colored velvet, divided into three compartments including a row of ring rolls. The box features a keyhole on the front and a thumbpiece for opening. The base is finished with a dark, textured leatherette material. The side of the silver frame is stamped STERLING SILVER. The box is further marked with a lion passant, a crown assay mark, a maker mark W & H (recheck), and a script date letter q (recheck). Length: approx. 6.5 inches (measured against a ruler) Width: approx. 3.5 inches (measured against a ruler) Height: approx. 2 inches (measured against a ruler) Gross weight: 461 grams (measured on a scale). Condition: The silver body shows a natural patina with surface tarnish and light scratches consistent with age. The interior velvet lining shows significant wear, staining, and compression.
