An Edwardian era hair comb featuring a translucent, mottled amber-brown body crafted from faux tortoiseshell, likely celluloid, fitted with a sterling silver mount. The silver mount is decorated with a fine vertical engine-turned pinstripe pattern and a central unengraved laurel wreath cartouche. The comb features graduated teeth with varying densities. The silver mount is stamped with a vertical row of hallmarks including the maker mark G&S Co Ld for the Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Co. Ltd., the lion passant silver standard mark, the anchor assay office mark for Birmingham, and the date letter G for 1906. The mount is also stamped vertically with MADE IN ENGLAND and STERLING, and bears an incised pattern number 9335. Weight: 29 grams Length: approx. 17.7 cm (measured against a ruler). Condition: Fair antique condition. The comb body has several missing teeth, most notably a significant section missing near the center and a single tooth missing at the far end. The sterling silver mount exhibits heavy tarnish and surface scratches consistent with its age and use.
