This collection comprises two distinct sets of vintage souvenir photographs in their original paper wallets, depicting historic sites in Scotland and Italy. The first set, produced as Gardner's Series A. 8748 1, consists of 12 silver gelatin real photo snapshots of the Trossachs region in Scotland. The black and white images show various landscapes and tourist destinations, including a loch with a steamship, mountain ranges, a stone arch bridge, and village architecture. One photograph bears a handwritten caption on the reverse reading Brig o' Turk Village, Trossachs. Vintage automobiles visible in some scenes suggest a mid-twentieth-century date. The second set is contained within a red wallet marked Firenze 20 Vedute, featuring a fleur-de-lis motif. This set includes 20 black and white halftone prints showcasing the landmarks of Florence, Italy. Subject matter includes the Florence Cathedral (the Duomo) with Giotto's Campanile, Palazzo Pitti, Ponte Vecchio, the Fountain of Neptune in the Boboli Gardens, and Ghiberti's Gates of Paradise. The reverse of each photograph features blue-stamped identifying text in Italian, French, English, and German. Dimensions measured against a ruler: Photographs approx. 3.5 in x 2.5 in (9 cm x 6.5 cm). Condition: The photographs are in good vintage condition with minor curling. The paper wallets exhibit age-related wear, including creasing, edge rubbing, and small tears to the flaps, with the green Trossachs wallet showing more significant wear.
