Vintage handmade or privately modified military-style fighting knife with personalized leather sheath. * Measures approximately 12 inches overall in sheath * Approximately 6-inch spear-point blade * Stacked leather-washer handle * Metal guard and pommel * Handmade brown leather sheath with retaining strap * Sheath inscribed "C.J. Kurth M.D." * Also marked “959 N. Emporia,” “F036177” and “Wichita Kansas” * Likely mid-20th-century, possibly WWII to early postwar era Research did not locate a recognized military maker or confirm that the writing represents military service information. This appears more consistent with a privately made fighting or utility knife, possibly fashioned from an earlier military or industrial blade. The handwritten identification may provide an interesting avenue for further provenance research but is not authenticated. Used condition with blade scratches, sharpening and polishing marks, patina, oxidation, and general wear. Stacked-leather handle shows drying, separation, surface loss, and an old cord repair near the pommel. Leather sheath shows staining, scratches, writing, edge wear, and age-related discoloration.
