Research indicates this is a Turkish Model 1935 Mauser bayonet with its steel scabbard. * Measures approximately 15.75 inches overall in scabbard * Approximately 10-inch blade * Pommel marked "A.S.F.A." * A.S.F.A. represents Askeri Fabrika, the Turkish Military Factory * Serial number 52769 * Two-piece wooden grips * Straight steel crossguard * Push-button locking mechanism * Steel scabbard with frog stud and ball-shaped tip * Manufactured for Turkish Mauser military rifles * Approximately late 1930s to WWII era The included collector’s tag identifies it with “98 Mauser,” “1909 Arg.” and “91 Arg.” However, our research indicates the A.S.F.A. marking and construction are consistent with a Turkish M1935 Mauser bayonet rather than an Argentine Model 1891 or 1909. Used condition with surface oxidation, scratches, discoloration, finish loss, scabbard dents, and general wear appropriate for age. Wooden grips show scratches and handling wear.
