A 90 percent silver Morgan dollar dated 1886. The reverse is squarely photographed and the space below the wreath bow is empty, so this is a Philadelphia strike. Both sides show full frosty white luster with no toning. Hair strands over and behind the ear are fully defined and the eagle's breast carries only the lightest friction at the top. There are light marks in the field, a nick below the eye, and a few bagmarks right of the eagle. Rims are clean and the brightness looks like original frost. The flip is marked ChBu, graded Choice Brilliant Uncirculated by the consignor. This coin is raw and has not been certified by PCGS or NGC, so the grade reflects the consignor's opinion. It holds 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver, roughly $51 at recent prices near $66 per ounce, and metal moves, so check spot before you bid. One letter tells the story here: the Philadelphia 1886 is among the easiest Morgans to find uncirculated, while the 1886-O is a major rarity in that condition. Estimated Value: $55 to $75. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot. Written descriptions are a guide only and may contain errors. Please review all photos before bidding.
