An Indian Head cent with the date worn completely off the coin. The date is not legible on the coin. The attribution comes from the consignor's flip and is unverified. The holder is marked 1873, a scarcer date, but nothing on the coin supports that, so it is cataloged and priced as an unattributed Indian Head cent. The piece is very heavily circulated and environmentally damaged, roughly About Good or below. The obverse is worn nearly smooth, the headdress survives only as a raised shape, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is almost gone. Both sides carry a rough granular pitted texture consistent with long exposure to soil or moisture. The reverse is better, with ONE CENT fully readable, though the wreath is mushy and the outer edge is porous and mottled. No green verdigris, no glue, no sign of cleaning. Bidders should know why ink on a cardboard holder carries no weight: a collector wrote that date, not the Mint, and a scarce-date claim the coin cannot back up is only a guess. Estimated Value: $2 to $5. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot. Written descriptions are a guide only and may contain errors. Please review all photos before bidding.
