Five 1964 Roosevelt dimes, 90 percent silver and the last year before the Mint went to clad. The date reads clearly on every coin. Four carry a D mint mark left of the torch base on the reverse, and the fifth shows that spot clean and empty, so it is a Philadelphia piece. All five are lightly circulated, about extremely fine, with hair and cheek detail present and the torch lines mostly full. Surfaces are grey with light gold toning at the rims. Two of the five carry a large dark brown-black deposit across the jaw, chin and lower field. That is a foreign deposit rather than toning, and photos cannot tell whether it is residue or corrosion. No rim dings or scratches worth calling out, and no sign of cleaning. The five hold 50 cents face in 90 percent silver, about $23.75 at recent prices near $66 per ounce, and metal moves, so check spot before you bid. The Mint kept striking 1964 dated dimes into 1966 under a date freeze meant to stop hoarding during the coin shortage. Estimated Value: $24 to $34. Sold as-is.
