Two Buffalo nickels, both dated 1929 and both carrying a clear S mint mark below FIVE CENTS on the reverse, verified in separate close up photographs. Both faces of both coins were shot. They appear to grade about Very Good to Fine. Braid, feather tips and cheekbone show moderate wear but stay outlined, and LIBERTY is full on both obverses. On the reverses the bison outline is complete, the horn is worn down and the body is smoothed at the high points, while the mound line and FIVE CENTS stay bold. Both are medium gray nickel with light golden brown toning, the second slightly darker with brown in the recesses. A few tiny rim nicks. No corrosion, no green deposits, no cleaning brightness, no scratches of consequence. Worth knowing: San Francisco Buffalo nickels of this era often came off the dies soft at the horn and tail, so a weak horn on an S coin can reflect the strike as much as the wear.
