Twelve Jefferson nickels, copper-nickel, with no silver content. These are not the 1942-1945 war nickels, which are the only Jefferson nickels that hold silver. The readable dates are ten 1964 coins, one 1965 and one 1966. Mint marks cannot be confirmed. For these dates the mint mark sits on the reverse right of Monticello, and the only reverse image is one wide group shot in which that area is too small to resolve a letter on any of the twelve coins. The coins are circulated, grey nickel with a warm brassy cast, with rubbed cheek, hair and coat detail and Monticello steps that are flat or nearly flat on every coin. Several show darker charcoal patches and small dark spots. No bends, no rim dings and no corrosion visible at this resolution. History worth having: a nationwide coin shortage led the Mint to strike no mint marks at all on 1965 through 1967 coinage, and it kept dating coins 1964 well into 1965 to discourage hoarding.
